Painter Decorator Apprentice

We are looking for a real self-starter to work directly with our team, following a Painting and Decorating apprenticeship with a local training provider. We do interior, exterior, and commercial decorating

Tasks will include:

  • Speaking with clients to establish their requirements
  • Measuring ceilings and walls to work out how much paint or wall covering you need
  • Stripping off old wallpaper or paint
  • Preparing the surface of a wall with primer and undercoat
  • Mixing paint to the right shade
  • Applying or removing (skimming) artex from ceilings and walls
  • Tidying up after finishing a job

To be a painter and decorator, you should have good practical and creative skills. You will need to be able to work carefully and pay attention to detail

 

Weekly Wage:

Starting salary will be £3.50 per hour and will be reviewed after a probationary period

Working Week:

Monday – Friday 7:30am – 5pm (flexible)

Future Prospects:

Upon demonstrating the correct level of personal skill and commitment, as well as successfully completing the apprenticeship programme our apprentice would be offered the opportunity to continue their employment within our company.

Location is accessible by public transport, ideally the successful candidate would be able to drive.

Skills Required:

Communication, Initiative, Customer Service, Team Working and an ability to take instructions and work rapidly. Close attention to detail

As well as being well organised, motivated and willing to learn, the successful candidate should also have a strong interest in developing their skills and knowledge of this sector, Friendly and Approachable

No formal qualifications, although you will need to complete Functional Skills as part of your apprenticeship if you do not have Maths, English and ICT GCSE C grades

Important Information:

You will need to be physically fit for this role.

Some early starts may be required, so being able to drive may be an advantage

The nature of the work means that we have to stay until some jobs are complete or until we reach a certain point therefore flexibility is required for the role.

You will need to be able to deal with heights as you will often work from ladders or raised platforms to reach ceilings
